ADP is an intermediate or a secondary molecule which forms when the third phosphate bond breaks in ATP or Adenosine Tri-Phosphate molecule and ATP molecule converts into ADP molecule.

In comparison to ATP, it has a low level of chemical energy because of the breakdown of a third phosphate bond.
