Advertising is when one pays for time for promoting product/service.

One can perform in newspapers and magazines on television, radio and billboards on side of bus in cinema or on side of building where possibilities are endless.

One making their advertising message and pays to make it.

Basic advertising campaign can costs thousands of dollars where huge organisations spends millions of dollars every year.

Publicity on other hand is when one send out media release and stage an event or does anything attracting attention of media.

Target is having media attract attention towards business for the person.

Biggest difference compared to advertising is Cost! and generating it can be done for nothing.
