Afforestetation help the soil increase hold of water.Generally The water collected as ground water is either moved to oceans or evaporated but planting teees at a wide range increases the water holding capacity of soil.

A major remedy to lessen the problem of water scarcity is afforestation. planting trees and increasing the forest cover would lead to good rainfall and afforestation will increase the water holding capacity of soil which improves the underground water table..
