Wind picks up pollen grains from the anthers hanging out of the flower. The pollen grains are light which enables them to float in the air, though many pollen grains are wasted. The stigma of another plant is sticky and feathery. So the remaining pollen grains carried by the wind lands upon the stigma, so cross pollination occurs.
