An amoeba gets its food through the process of endocytosis.

When an amoeba finds some food,

it first starts to extend its pseudopodia(false foot) around the food and strats to wrap it. then, it completely encloses the food particle and forms a food vacuole. Here, the food is broken down into simpler substances and absorbs the required nutrients/substances ( this process is called assimilation) and lastly,  the waste food substances is expelled through the process of exocytosis.
