★Amoeba also called as amoeboid. They are microscopic, unicellular, eukaryotic organisms mostly found near the ponds and lakes. These eukaryotic organisms consist of nucleus, cytoplasm, food vacuoles and finger-like projections called pseudopodia.

★The pseudopodia are the temporary arm-like projection in amoeba which helps in capturing its food, in changing its size and shape and also as a locomotion organ.

★An Amoeba obtains its food by holozoic mode of nutrition and the process is called as the phagocytosis. The complete process of phagocytosis and this includes – Ingestion, digestion, absorption, assimilation and egestion.
