how does an earthquake occur?

The Earth;s surface is made of many pieces called plates which drift on red hot runny rock below called mantle .Sometimes two pieces push and shove each other making the Earth shake.Sometimes volcano also cause earthquakes but these earth quakes r not dangerous than normal earthquakes.Thank u
