HOW OCEAN CURRENTS AFFECT RAINFALL (PRECIPITATION)
.
→Cold ocean currents bring anticyclonic conditions, i.e. calm weather and stable air, it prevents the ascending of air and thus it prevents cloud formation. Therefore it results into low precipitation rates. This is why all the major deserts are located on the western margins of continents.
→Warm currents bring unstable humid air which results into cloud formation and thus higher rates of precipitation. This is why Gulf Stream causes extra-wet weather for the British Isles.

Hope it helps
