Amoeba obtains its food by the process of endocytosis. ... It engulfs the food particle with the help of pseudopodia and then forms a vacuole around it. When the particle is completely trapped the amoebasecretes digestive enzymes that digests the food. thus the amoebaobtains it's food.

The amoeba obtain its food by 5 different processes.

1. Ingestion - the amoeba take in the food when it comes near it through pseudopodia commonly known as false legs.

2. Digestion - the food is digested in the food vacuoles with the help of enzymes.

3. Absorbtion - the food is directly absorbed by the cytoplasm by the process of diffusion.

4. Assimilation- food absorbed is used to obtain energy for maintaning the life processes.

5.Egestion - the undigested food is thrown out of the body through cell membrane.

Usually the amoeba eats microscopic plant and animals which float in water . It is a type of holozoic nutrition .
