Anne is constantly criticizing the grown-ups, which include her parents, the Van Daans, and Mr. Dussel. She feels that they are too involved in her life, overly critical, and clueless.

In her diary, Anne had criticized the grown-ups around whom she lived. She criticized her parents, the Van Dans and Mr. Duddel. She felt that the elders were much more interested in her life and interfered much into it. Also, she complained about the grown-ups of having an opinion about everything without listening to anyone. She didn't want any such opinion from them as she considered them to be acting immaturely themselves.
