How does applying pressure help in liquefaction of a gas?
Answers
Liquefaction of gas means gas is converted into liquid.
This process mainly depends on pressure and temperature , the application of pressure provided by temperature is not greater than critical temperature.
When gas is convert into liquid then volume is decrease bcz for same mass volume of liquid is less than volume of gas,
according to gas equation PV=nRT if pressure increase and temperature decrease then volume decrease .
Liquefaction of gas at constant temp and pressure also occur and this process called phase change process . In this process amount of heat is reject to convert gas into liquid is called latent heat .
I hope u will understand further any doubt then ask..
Answer:
Gases can be liquified by applying pressure and lowering the temperature. ... On applying pressure the gaseous particles come closer and start attracting eachother. When gas is compressed too much then heat is produced due to compression.
