Auditory sensation path

Explanation:

  • Auditory sensation begins with the sound waves reaching the ear pinnae which collects and reflects them after attenuating and amplifying to the auditory canal.
  • Then the sound waves reach the ear drum and vibrate it according the pressure of the waves.
  • These vibrations in turn oscillate the three osscicles of the middle ear and finally puts the cochlear fluid into motion.
  • The cochlea then separates sound according to its frequency. Later transduction of sound waves to electrical impulses takes place by cochlear hair cells which are attached to the auditory nerve fibre endings.
  • These fibres transmit the electrical impulse to the brain which then processes the sound impulse and produces the auditory sensation
