Baking soda contains only one ingredient that is Sodium Bicarbonate, where as baking powder contains 2 ingredients that is baking soda and some other acid like tartaric acid.

Conversely Baking powder includes sodium bicarbonate,as well as an acid. It only needs a liquid to become activated.
