How does blood shunting affect your diet?

Shunting blood happens in utero … a hole in the septum allows blood to bypass the lungs since they aren’t in use yet. At birth, the hole is suppose to close and separate the heart chambers carrying venous and arterial blood.

HemoDialysis patients often get a shunt anastomosis so artery pressure blood will puff up the veins, making them easier to insert a needle 3 times a week for dialysis.
