In turn this triggers the sarcoplasmic reticulum to releasecalcium ions into the muscleinterior where they bind to troponin, thus causing tropomyosin to shift from the face of the actin filament to which myosin heads need to bind to produce contraction.

ritika2000sonia: I think the answer could be, the increase in ca++ level leads to binding of calcium with a subunit of troponin on actin filament and thereby remove the masking of active sites of myosin. the Z line attached to these actins are pulled inward thereby causing shortening of the sacromere I.e. contraction in muscles.
