Cardiac muscle is under involuntary control rhythmically under control from the autonomic nervous system and is not under conscious control. It has a greater number of mitochondria that skeletal muscle due to the need of continual contractions .

Voluntary muscle ( skeletal muscle) can be controlled voluntary to bring about movement of the skeleton. Skeletal muscle has different fibre types depending on the endurance requirement and speed of contraction required.
