the lower pH of the mouth creates an optimal environment for bad bacteria, which eventually causes tooth decay.   the pH of your mouth can change depending on what foods you are eating.the basic compound of tooth enamel calcium phosphate is attacked by acids thus to prevent it you need to neutralize the effect.

Mouth contains several kind of salivary glands which produce acids sometimes when the pH of the acid produced by the salivary gland fall down then the bacteria causes tooth decay
