When wood or any fuel partially burned CO is evolved.

CO has the ability to trap solar heat, it means it doesn't reflect back the solar ray into the atmosphere and it keep the rays be on the earth's surface. CO and other gases like CO2,SO2,Methane (CH4) other gases which ate called green house gases increasing earth's temperature,that leads to global warming
