Carbon dioxide is a type of gas whose function is similar to the greenhouse effect. The glass that is kept in a greenhouse only allows the sunlight to enter inside the greenhouse but does not allow the heat of the sunlight to escape from it. The function of carbon dioxide is also similar. When sunlight enters the earth's atmosphere, carbon dioxide traps most of the heat of the sunlight and does not let it escape from the atmosphere. Thus carbon dioxide increases the greenhouse effect by trapping more and more heat of the sun and making our earth surface hotter.
