how does coal formation take place in nature

The plants or trees which are in dense forest will be buried by the natural processes like flood and earth quakes. Then the soil will be deposited more on them. Then the temperature arises and it will go deeper and deeper. Due to high pressure and high temperature the dead plants (trees) will slowly started converting into coal
