The Constitution of India provides “Right of Freedom of Religion” as per Articles 25 & 28 and the 42nd amendment of the constitution defines “secular” in the preamble of the constitution. The laws absolutely require the state and its institutions to acknowledge and accept all religions, impose parliamentary laws instead of religious laws, and respect pluralism.
Examples proving India as secular country are
1. India has no state religion
2. State does not discriminate between religions
3. State cannot impose any tax to promote a religion
4. Religious instructions cannot be imparted in educational institution run by state funds
