The southwest winds originates near Australia. It moves towards northwest till the equator in the southern hemisphere. But due to Coriolis effect, after it crosses over to the northern hemisphere, the direction changes towards right thus blowing towards northeast. Because these winds seem to come from the southwest looking from the Indian landmass it's known as southwest winds. And finally since it brings us rainfall, it's known as southwest monsoon.
Hence we can see that Coriolis effect has influence on the monsoon winds.
