Protective tissues are a special type of tissues which protects another cells and tissues from the external injuries , basically it works as an external barrier which prevents the external forces.

And the cork is perfect for being a protective tissue because;

1) Cork is hard and very rigid which can give a good insulation.

2) The cork is a layer of dead cells and tissues ,so it can easily tolerate external forces without any risks of cell or tissue deaths of itself.
