Helloo!!
The full form of CPU is Central Processing Unit. Alternatively, it is also known by the name of processor, microprocessor or a computer processor. A CPU is an electronics circuit used in a computer that fetches the input instructions or commands from the memory unit, performs arithmetic and logic operations and stores this processed data back to memory.
A CPU or Central Processing Unit is the heart of a computer and is installed in a socketspecified on a motherboard. Since a CPU performs a lot of calculations at a high speed, it gets heat up quickly. To cool down the temperature of a CPU a cooling FAN is installed on it.
Now,
Hard disk drive (HHD) ::
There are mainly made up of Magnetic plattes which store data. It the store house of a computer.
It is connected By a SATA wire to the motherboard and a power cable to another side of HDD!!
HOPE IT HELPS

Well a CPU works by the user inputs and certain tasks given by the OS to keep your computer turned on.These tasks are actually not visible to us.It has two main part-Arithematic/Logical Unit and Control Unit.
ALU : performs calculations and take logical decisions.
CU : Well CU is like the principle of the school who directs ALU to do operations and control input/output devices.
Thus when an input is provided to the COMPUTER, the CU checks the input and also check if any existing file or data stored in the computer is needed.Then it sents the input with the necessary information to the ALU to do the operations.There it is processed and then sent back to CU, which then sents it to the memory or any output device as needed by the user.
Some people say that CPU has three components where the 3rd one is the Cache(similar to RAM but faster than it and it is non-removable).
Well, Hard disk's performance depends upon its rpm of platters and your usage.Using PC for a long time can affect it.Also, Harddisk can get damaged easily if manufacturing is not done properly.The space on the hard disk and the read/write speed will also depend on its performance.Also the performance of RAM, CPU also depends on the speed of harddisk.
