Deforestation removes the trees which hold the soil together by their roots. Removing the trees leaves the soil bare to wind and other elements which leads to desertification since the top soil is blown away, dried out or washed away by rain.
Effects::
If trees are removed, the area can become much warmer and drier, which may result in desertification, which is a transformation of once fertile land into desert. Deforestation and desertification have many detrimental effects on the environment, but one of the most devastating impacts is the loss of biodiversity.

Desertification is process whereby land or soil that was once fertile becomes a desert. Deforestation, clearance or clearing is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use.the trees' roots hold the soil together.once they are lost, the soil becomes loose.
after that, if the soil becomes loose, then the top layer of the soil might get washed away or get blown with the wind.this top layer contains essential humus and nutrients for plants to grow.
if there is no humus, the soil will become infertile, and also no plants will grow.
