How does deforestation lead to global warming

Trees breathe carbon dioxide (CO2) and exhale oxygen (O2). We breathe oxygen and exhale CO2.
In fact when the earth was new, for perhaps billions of years it was covered with plants. In those days the atmosphere was mostly CO2. These plants created oxygen until they nearly poisoned themselves, and this is what made animal life possible. Fossil fuels, coal and oil and natural gas, come from that time, when plants were king.
Since then, there was a precarious balance on earth, plants and animals balancing each other. Just in the last century or so we've begun systematically destroying the plants through deforestation. And as a result, CO2 levels in the atmosphere are rising. CO2 is a 'greenhouse gas', it causes the atmosphere to trap more heat from sunlight, so the atmosphere is warming up, and this is causing climate changes all around the world.
