How does democracy ensure the well-being of the people?

The people always have a say in the government. The government itself cannot dictate how the country runs. it does secure it through giving the people a set list of unalienable rights and a seat in government so they can be represented.

As democracy is for the people ,from the people and by the people .
People choose their leader on the basis of how he/she can rule .
People can express their views .
