In order to understand the nature of political equality ensured via the action of democracy, one must be aware of what democracy is.

For those who are unaware of the word democracy, it is a type of form of government of a country. It is a system of the government in which the whole population or the eligible members elected their representatives directly or indirectly to run the government and state.

Democracy is most commonly associated with the phrase, 'for the people and by the people.'

So how does democracy ensure political equality?

Basically, democracy is a type of government in which people have the right and ability of electing the leader of their own choice. Unlike historical times, imperialists and kings and queens didn't enforce their power on the citizens of the country. In times today, people have the ability of choosing their leader themselves.

What sort of political equality do the people get?

- You have a variety of candidates to choose from, whether from a political party or an independent candidate.

- You have the ability of questioning the decisions of the leader, he/she is liable to give you the answers.

-you can speak against the leaders decisions. In previous times, if anyone spoke against the decisions of a leader that was considered treason, but now, citizens have the ability to critique.

- duel nations of the same country are also allowed to vote for their representative, from abroad.

- people have the ability to stand in an election, themselves even. They are allowed to be a member of the cabinet through winning of elections, or joining any party that they want.

- people have the choice and ability to legally campaign for their preferred parties.
