Whether it is agriculture or industry the importance of infrastructure no one can deny. For the modernization and commercialization of agriculture and industry, infrastructure plays the most energetic role. Availability of ample and well-organized infrastructural set up not only promotes rapid industrialization but also improves the quality of life of the people. The all pervading importance of infrastructure would be clearer from the fact that it encompasses the whole spectrum of vital services such as roads, railways, civil aviation, shipping, power generation transmission, telecommunications, postal facilities and urban development. Adequate infrastructure facilities are an unconditional necessity for rapid achievement of sustainable economic growth. Infrastructure facilities are like wheels of development, without which the economy cannot function properly. Primary sector plays most important role in employment generation in our country and its contribution to national income also remarkable. Sufficient power, credit, transport facilities, market etc. play vital role in agricultural production. Like agricultural sector industrial sector also depends on infrastructure like skilled manpower, management, energy, credit facilities, marketing facilities communication facilities, etc. for its rapid development. Inflow of investment to a particular locality is basically depends on infrastructure. All these facilities and services mentioned above constitute collectively the infrastructure of an economy. The availability of infrastructure like power, telecommunication and transport is absolutely vital for accelerated development and modernization of a country.
