The small intestine absorbs mostdigested food molecules, as well as water and minerals, and passes them on to other parts of the bodyfor storage or further chemical change. Specialized cells help absorbed materials cross the intestinal lining into the bloodstream.

The food consists of carbohydrates, proteins and fats

1. Carbohydrates will be digested in mouth itself

2. Proteins will be digested at stomach

3. fats will be digested at small intestine i.e jejunum

4. The digested food will be converted into nutrients and they sent into the blood through numerous structures called microvilli
