discrimination occurswhere there is a requirement or policy that, on the face of it, appears neutral. However, it has a disproportionate impact on certain groups (such as people of a certain sex or age) and that requirement or policy is not reasonable in the circumstances.

From my point of view
- it is because of the difference in religion ,cast, creed and social standards etc (social things)
-Moreover the feeling of superiority on others leads to discrimination in any society
