The inclination of axis is the major contributor to the seasons on the Earth. Not only the axis is inclined by 66½° to the orbital plane (or 23½° to normal), also the axis always points to the same exact direction in space throughout its journey on its orbit around the Sun, due to the gyroscopic effect. This causes the North of the axis inclined towards the Sun during one part of the year and the South of the axis inclined towards the Sun during other part of the year. This oscillating inclination of the Sun rays falling on the Earth creates a complex of events that creates the Seasons.
