Because of exchange of energy, elements goes from ground state to the excited state. This transformation changes their electronic configuration.
For ex, electronic configuration of P in ground state = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3
While in excited state, it is : 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1 3p3 3d1
For ex, electronic configuration of P in ground state = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3
While in excited state, it is : 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1 3p3 3d1
