 \blue{ \huge{Answer}}

A pregnancy starts with fertilization, when a woman's egg joins with a man's sperm. Fertilization usually takes place in a fallopian tube that links an ovary to the uterus. If the fertilized egg successfully travels down the fallopian tube and implants in the uterus, an embryo starts growing.

Internal fertilization has the advantage of protecting the fertilized egg from dehydration on land. The embryo is isolated within the female, which limits predation on the young. Internal fertilization also enhances the fertilization of eggs by a specific male.

Disadvantages of External Fertilization

A large quantity of gametes is wasted and left unfertilized.

Chances of fertilization are diminished by environmental hazards and Predators.

Eggs and sperms, essentially, may not come in contact.

Dessication of zygote or gametes.

Humans provide an example of the former whereas seahorse reproduction is an example of the latter. Fertilization, pictured in Figure 1a is the process in which gametes (an egg and sperm) fuse to form a zygote. The egg and sperm each contain one set of chromosomes.
