fluid connective has its matrix as fluid whereas others have either hard, rough, jelly like....etc. fluid connective tissue can flow whereas others cannot. Most other connective tissues function in support, protection, or binding. Blood is the only one that transports gases, defends against disease, and is involved in clotting. Also, blood is found throughout the body within a closed system of blood vessels and heart chambers. This is unique to blood and not to the other connective tissues.
