How does focal lenght change on changing object distance

Focal length of a convex lens is given by

(1/f)=(1/u)+(1/v)

U=distance of object from the lens

V=distance of image from the lens

If u changes ,v changes equally such that the focal length of a lens is constant irrespective of distance of an object from lens.
