There are several reasons for food getting spoilt in an atmosphere such as the microorganisms such as the fungi and the bacteria that are present in our atmosphere, the air that contains oxygen and the enzymes that are sometimes present in the food itself.

The microorganisms that are present around the food can breakdown the proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that are present in the food to make it rancid or spoilt.
