How does formic acid react with potassium permanganate with heat?

Potassium Permanganate + Lactic Acid = Manganese Dioxide + Carbon Dioxide + Potassium Hydroxide + Water

KMnO4 + C3H6O3 = MnO2 + CO2 + KOH + H2O
