Question:-

How does France abolishes Monarchy and becomes a Republic?

Answer:-

▶When the king of France Louis XVI called the Estate General meeting on 5 May 1789, the representatives of all the 3 estates accompanied him.

▶The members of the third estate that included the commoners of France had sent 600 representatives.

▶They weren't given any seats for the lack of it, the letters that were brought by them were also ignored and the proposal that each member should have one vote was also rejected by the monarch.

▶This annoyed them and they started assembling in the Hall of an indoor tennis court in the ground of Versailles and revolting against the monarch of the France.

▶They founded the national assembly and framed laws that would limit the power of the monarch.

▶Finally Louis XVI approved the recognition to the national assembly but he was very greedy and wanted his absolute and despotic power back.

▶Therefore, he entered into secret negotiations with The King of Prussia.

▶The citizens of France after knowing this declared war against Prussia and Austria in April 1792 out of which Revolutionary leader Maximilian Robespierre rose and formed his political club that is the Jacobin club.

▶Finally on the morning of August 10 he and his club members stormed the palace of Tuileries, massacred the kings guards and held the king himself as hostage for several hours.

▶Later, he got executed by the newly elected assembly call the Convention and ultimately in 21 September 1792 France abolished Monarchy and became a Republic.
