Gandhiji did not feel sea-sick at all. However, in the days that followed, he became conscious of the fact that he could not speak English to commute with other people on board. The only person with whom he could make conversation was Sjt. Mazmudar. Gandhiji was also the only person who abstained from taking meat during the trip.
Gandhiji also learnt various aspects of European etiquette from Dr Mehta when he was in London. All these contradicted to what he had been used to in India. He also found his hotel highly priced and that he had to pay for even what he did not eat.
