they take water through there mouth then the oxygen is absorbed from it and the remaining water and carbon dioxide is released from the gills of the fish.

Blood is used to transport respiratory gases (oxygen/co2) between the gills and the resporing cells around the body..In the lamellae ,blood moves through tiny capillaries in the opposite direction to the flow of water..
