Because the earth exerts a force of attraction of gravity and pull it down .
ex. rain falls down from the sky to the earth due to the gravitational force of earth.

Hello Friends..............
Gravity is a very important force. Every object in space exerts a gravitational pull on every other, and so gravity influences the paths taken by everything traveling through space. It is the glue that holds together entire galaxies. It keeps planets in orbit..........I think it helps you..ok ..if any problem please tell me....
