How does greater surface contact area affect intermolecular forces?

Actually , when the surface area is larger then intermolecular forces will operate in greater no. of places between the molecules which increase its strength.And when surface area is smaller then intermolecular forces will operate in smaller no. of places between the molecules which definitely decrease its strength
