The mountains..

There is something about how altitude clears your head.

It's like you weigh less the higher you go, your ears pop and you can hear yourself think.

There are two seasons in the mountains for mountain people, even though you experience all of them. There is winter, and there is summer.

The winter is the best of the seasons by far. The cold brings a calm. Everyone wants to snuggle up in their blankets by the warm fire with a hot coco. While others who have wishes to explore mother nature can do so in peace. The smell of fireplaces burning ripe wood, the wind making your house creak and windows rattle. Waking up every hour of the night and looking out your window knowing your world is changing around you. There is something mythical about the snow.. if you listen to it you can hear it singing, like the wind in the trees, mother nature refreshing herself. When you make it to the top of that mountain you know you are somewhere man was never made to be, and it empowers you. The snow in the wind stings you like needles, and the wind blows at your back, but you continue to push for this feeling it gives you, the rush.. because deep inside you know it's not the mountain you want to conquer, it's yourself.
