One day,John’s wife, Lavinia, arranged a Ouija board party at her house. She even forced John to sit as a partner with one Miss Hinkle. During the party it was rumoured that Ouija boards had revealed John's relation with some woman named Helen. Lavinia was mad with rage. She decided to leave John. When she was about to move out of the house she saw John trying to hide some women behind him. Lavinia at once pushed John aside to see who there was there was. There was no woman it was the ghost of a woman named Helen. This ghost had been helping John with plots  for his ghost stories. This episode made Lavinia get rid of her superstitious Belief in Ouija boards. She asked her maid to use that board for kindling wood.
