Hibernation is when bears 'sleep' through the winter. During the bear's dormant state ,their heart rate is extremely low but their body temperature is relatively high and they won't eat or release body waste .They have to be able to survive the cold weather. They hibernates to escape the cold and because food is scarce.

Hope it help...

Hibernation is state of a body where animals show low heart rate, low body temperature and low metabolic rate. The animals in hibernation go into deep sleep to restore energy when enough food is not available in the nature.

Bear's Hibernation

In winter bears go into a deep sleep mostly known as Winter sleep.

During this time bear's heart rate and metabolic rate drops. The body temperature also lessens to 10°

The fat cells and the muscle tissue breaks down to supply water,Protein, Calories etc to the body during this time.

Hibernation helps the bear in the winter season:

1) Female bears delays their child's birth with the help of Hibernation.Because the body won't get enough fat and energy to implant.Bears wait until fall to give birth. So that the cubs can survive the cold weather.

2)In winter the bears don't find enough food to survive. So they goes into winter sleep and restore energy.

Hope it helps.
