⏭️Speciation occurs when the offspring of two different species can reproduce on it's own. There are a few factors that lead to speciation.
⏭️Allopatric speciation occurs when there is a physical barrier such as a mountain or a river that seperates both species overtime long enough that they begin to develop specific characteristics and reproduce on their own.
⏭️Sympatric speciation occurs when there is a genetic barrier (mutation) that causes a different mating season or preference in mate choice.
In certain cases, hybridization does not lead to healthy offspring (the offspring is sterile). Hence, they are not considered a new species. As I mentioned earlier, it's only speciation when the offspring is able to reproduce as well.
