There are various devices in the functioning of parliament that keep executive in check. Some of them are -
Question hour - Where MP ask their question related to administration or concerning their constituency and concerned minister or any other person have to reply in oral or written format.
No confidence motion - If the serving government loose adequate majority to serve as government of the day.
Adjournment motion - To draw attention of Lok Sabha to matter of urgent public importance having serious consequence.
Censure motion - To show strong disapproval for policies of government or any ministry.
Rejecting money bill or passing cut motion.
Parliament checks financial performance of government by various committee. Some of important ones are-
Public account committee- Its chairman is from opposition party (convention). It checks appropriation account of union government and scrutinize CAG report.
Estimate committee - It checks and suggest for efficiency in economy.
Committee on public undertaking - It is mostly concerned with public undertaking.
Similarly there are departmental standing committee and others to check and advise executive.
However these control have less practical use in controlling executive. This is because executive of the day have majority in Lok Sabha. other factors are -
Parliamentarians have not much time and expertise to deal above mentioned issue.
Lack of effective opposition further dilute the stand.
Therefore control is more of political in nature rather than technical.
