Amoeba is a unicellular animal, so it doesn't have a mouth for ingestion of food. Amoeba ingests the food by encircling it by forming pseudopodia. When the food is completely encircled , the food is engulfed in the form of a bag called food vacuole.

Ingestion occurs in amoeba in followimg ways

i) amoebas has irregular shape so whenever food particle is closer to it.it moves it figer like projection( psedopodia) and capture the food

ii) it make a temporary vacoule around the food particle

iii) food particle is digested in the cytoplasm and the remaining waste material is removed in the surrounging enviornment
