As we move across a period atomic size decreases and nuclear charge increases. Therefore, the electron is held tightly and it is difficult to remove. Therefore, ionisation enthalpy increases across a period.

Ionization enthlapy varies opposite to the variation of atomic radii. Thus, one can easily predict the variation . The variation is that ionization enthalpy increases along a period whereas decreases down a group.
